King Marcus and the House of Stewart - A Rising Aboriginal Aristocracy? - Part 1

King Marcus and the House of Stewart - A Rising Aboriginal Aristocracy? - Part 1

As the Voice Referendum process has got underway, many of our Dark Emu Exposed readers have contacted us to ask, “who is that Aussie-looking guy with the hat who keeps popping up in the background, on-stage with all the Aboriginal advocates for the Voice?”

We must admit we were wondering as well, so we began a research project at Dark Emu Exposed to find out.

Here he is on stage with the Prime Minister looking like a ‘where’s Wally moment’ at the back-left.

Here he is seated at the table with the Prime Minister.

Figure 2 - ‘Unknown man with the hat’, on the far-left with a seat at the table with the Prime Minister.

Here he is turning up in published media, in the company of the Voice elites.

Figure 3 - ‘Unknown man with the hat’, appearing on information brochures on the Voice, alongside the Prime Minister and other key proponents of the Voice.

We tracked down this mysterious, ‘unknown man with the hat’ who kept appearing on the podium with the PM, and identified him as Marcus Stewart, formerly an employee of Corrections Victoria, Department of Justice & Regulation (Source - Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing Plan Justice Health and Corrections Victoria).

His career path has included,

‘… experience working in the child protection system in out of home care and family therapy.’ He ‘successfully graduated from the Melbourne Business School’s MURRA Indigenous Business Program in 2017. In addition to having studied Developmental Psychiatry at Melbourne University (2004-2006), Marcus undertook post graduate studies in Family Therapy at La Trobe University.” (Source)

By 2022 we find that Marcus Stewart, as a ‘Nira illim bulluk man of the Taungurung Nation’ was ‘elected Co-Chair of the First Peoples’ Assembly of Victoria’. (Source)

As part of the Victorian First Nations Parliament we find many photographs of Marcus enjoying the pomp and ceremony of his new job.

After his short stint in the Victorian First Nations parliament we understand that he is now in Canberra, where he has made quite a ‘splash’ (literally) with his colloquial comments on Peter Dutton’s stance regarding the Voice Referendum. As reported in The Australian, we learn that,

With a topical and colourful exchange such as this coming from a supposedly, ‘proud Nira illim bulluk man of the Taungurung Nation’, who incidentally looks like, and just appears to live like, my Aussie neighbour Trav, how could we not include Marcus Stewart in our next episode of Dark Emu Exposed’s, So who do you want us to think who you are?

Is Marcus Stewart really who he claims to be?

Over the coming weeks we will present our research to answer this very question.

So stay tuned!
