Like Father, Like Son?
Dr Jack Pascoe, son of author and academic Bruce Pascoe, has recently been awarded an Australian Research Council `Discovery Indigenous’ grant for just under $900,000 (Figures 1 and 4).
He is nominated as a Chief Investigator (CI) [ref] for this Discovery Indigenous grant, which I understand is a position that needs to be held, ``by Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander researchers” [see Figure 2].
The University of Melbourne recognise Dr Pascoe as a `Yuin man.’ [Figure 3]
But is Dr Jack Pascoe really a Yuin Aboriginal man? We have not been able to find any evidence to support his claims, but at this stage we have to give him the benefit of the doubt.
So we have written to Dr Pascoe asking for further information regarding his claims, as per our letter in Figure 5 below.
So stay tuned to see if we get a response.

It appears that the Chief Investigator(s) [CI] need to be “Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders”[Figure 2]. On the face of it, one would assume that Dr Pascoe, as a lead CI for the project would need to be Aboriginal?

University of Melbourne recognise Dr Jack Pascoe as “Yuin” and have appointed his as such to their Biodiversity Council [Figure 3].

Details of Dr Pascoe’s recently awarded grant (nearly $900,000) can be found on the Australian Research Council website, fully authorised with the seal of the Commonwealth of Australia and funded by the Australian taxpayer.
The following is the letter of inquiry that we have sent to Dr Pascoe, seeking evidence and details for his claims to be a Yuin Aboriginal man [Figures 5A&B]
