Finally Some Truth-Telling - The Lauren O'Dwyer Story Part 5
Finally it appears that ordinary citizens can start to talk calmly and civilly about Aboriginality without being accused of being racists by activists and the embedded elites.
The whole point of our webposts at Dark Emu Exposed regarding people, principally academics, who claim to be Aboriginal is that they just need to provide the evidence to the wider community in general, and Aboriginal people in particular, that they are indeed genuine Aboriginal people.
With the rising expectations from society for Truth-Telling, the days of the ‘fakes’ should be coming to an end.
It seems that finally, the ABC is stepping-up and starting to do it’s job - unbiased reporting on the difficult and sensitive topic of reporting on people, who are claiming a benefit or a public office, to provide the evidence to support their claims of Aboriginality when it is questioned by other Aboriginal people and their organisations.
On 21 November 2022, the ABC calmly and fairly reported on comments by a Joan Keele, a family member of Lauren O’Dwyer’s family, as well as Yorta Yorta Nation Aboriginal Corporation (YYNC) chief executive Monica Morgan. Listen here and read here. and watch here.
Our interview on the Andrew Bolt show of 14 November 2022, where we discussed the alleged family tree of Lauren O’Dwyer, is also being widely distributed on social media - Listen here at 33:15
The story is also appearing in the UK’s DailyMail Online:
‘Dan Andrews' star Labor candidate for trendy Melbourne seat claims she's a 'proud Yorta Yorta woman' - but her family AND elders say she's not: 'I've looked at her genealogy... there is nobody'
Even the National Indigenous Times (NIT) is following the controversy.
Notwithstanding all the above reporting, Premier Daniel Andrews is still standing by his candidate for the seat of Richmond because, as he says,
“She has been very, very clear about who she is and where she comes from,” Mr Andrews said on Monday. “I think that cultural identity is a very complex thing. “These (cultural) issues can often be contested and there can often be differences of view and opinion.”
- Sarah Perillo & Carly Douglas, Herald Sun, November 21, 2022
As a legislator himself, Premier Andrews must know that Aboriginality in Australia is not just a matter of a personal ‘view and opinion’.
To obtain a benefit or to be appointed to an ‘identified position’ as an Aboriginal person one is required to satisfy the Commonwealth’s 3-part rule for Aboriginality. One needs to demonstrate descent and be accepted by a recognised Aboriginal community. This deoes not seem to be the case for his Richmond candidate, Lauren O’Dwyer.
