Is Dark Emu good history? - A New Student and Teacher Study Book

Robert Lewis is a former history teacher and pioneer of the development of evidence-based inquiry units in history classrooms. He has written over 300 classroom educational resources, mainly Australian History.

He was awarded a New South Wales Premier’s Young People’s History Prize in 2008, and was recognised with the Outstanding Contribution to the Teaching and Learning of History Award from the History Teachers’ Association of Victoria in 2013.

Quite independently of our work on this blog site, the historical education resource developer, Robert Lewis has recently produced an excellent study guide for teachers and students who wish to critically assess Bruce Pascoe’s ‘controversial’ book, Dark Emu.

The aim of Robert’s book is not to say whether Mr Pascoe’s, Dark Emu, is right or wrong, but rather it is designed to enable students and teachers to reach their own conclusions about the thesis of Dark Emu, using their own evidence-based enquiry.

We thoroughly recommend Robert’s book,

Is Dark Emu good history? Helping Students investigate a Controversial Book on Australian Aboriginal History in the Classroom.
